Why isn't Chatterbox just paywalled?
Civic information belongs in public view. Public records — council meetings, ordinances, court rulings, school-board decisions — affect every American whether they pay or not. A paywall directly contradicts the mission. Sponsor revenue funds the free tier; Pro subscribers fund the privacy promise.
What does "no tracking" mean?
Free-tier visitors are counted in aggregate (page views per ZIP, etc.) for product decisions — no individual identifiers. Pro subscribers don't trigger even those aggregate counters when signed in. No third-party scripts, no ad pixels, no cross-site tracking, no email-list segmentation based on behavior.
What about local businesses that want to advertise?
Local businesses can sponsor a single ZIP or a town/county bundle on the Sponsor page. Sponsorships are flat-rate per month, no tracking, no per-impression billing.
How do I cancel?
From your Account page, click "Manage subscription." That opens Stripe's billing portal where you can cancel, switch monthly/annual, or update your payment method. One-click cancel, no retention-flow.
